Adult Ministries Of Safe Harbor United Methodist Church
College And Career Group
The young adults have been investigating God's work in their colleges and careers.  They meet
every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. with intriguing messages of how God is working in the lives of young
adults.  This a crucial time in a young person's life; the time when they are no longer a youth,
but not quite ready for vows and diaper changing.  This transition from youth to adulthood
is a time where our young ones fall away from God.  We feel very strongly that they still need
their time of lessons geared to their age group, outings, and gatherings that they plan and put
together.  No, they aren't alone in this.  We have a young couple who mentor to them
in all they do.
Prayers And Squares Quilting Ministry
Can you touch a prayer?  Can you pull a prayer close and feel its comfort?  You
can if it's part of a prayer quilt from Prayers And Squares.  It's a simple idea with
powerful results, but our prayer quilts are more than just colorful, comforting blankets.
The warmth they bring comes from the prayers that are tied into each knot.
Prayers And Squares is an outreach ministry that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of
a hand-tied quilt.  Unlike many other organizations that make quilts for charitable
causes, the purpose of Prayers And Squares is not to make and distribute quilts, but to promote
prayer through the use of quilts.
One thing to keep in mind is that this is a caring ministry, not a celebratory one.
Prayer quilts are not appropriate for birthdays, weddings, baptisms, or as any other type of
“gift”.  The prayer quilt is appropriate for anyone, who is experiencing physical,
emotional, spiritual, or some other life crisis, and who feels they could benefit from being
“covered in prayer”, with the quilt being that tangible sign of God’s ever present Grace,
available to all of us.
The inspiration and energy we give to each other is immeasurable.   Prayers And Squares
meets each Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Gym.  During those meetings, we pray together,
discuss the various directions to which this ministry is leading us, share ideas, patterns, and
projects we've finished, and help each other with quilting problems we may have encountered
during the week.  We help each other in a myriad of ways, and, as members of a group
dedicated to easing the pain of others, we enter into other service projects as the spirit
moves us.
One of the ways we remain inspired is through the many stories and notes attesting to the
huge impact that this ministry has, and will continue to have, on everyone who has anything
to do with this ministry – the recipients of the quilts, the makers of the quilts, all who
tie prayers into the quilts, and all of those people who come in contact with the recipients
and their prayer quilts.
The decision to join Prayers And Squares will be the beginning of a new and exciting journey
that will bring surprises, challenges, blessings, and stories almost unimaginable.
It is important to stress that this is not a quilting ministry – this ministry is about prayer,
and about giving people a tangible sign of God’s love.
Amazing Grays
The Amazing Grays of Safe Harbor meet on the second Thursday of each month for a wonderful devotion and
pot luck luncheon.  Robert and Nancy Schaefer graciously host this time of fellowship and
encourage all to come be a part of the Amazing Grays.
Pacers Prayer Group
If you like small groups, this is for you.  Every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in Room #110 we offer a
special time of prayer and fellowship.  Everyone is invited to join in this time of praying for
others.  Immediately following prayer, we have a Small Group Bible Study.
Small Group Bible Study
Each Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. (immediately following Pacers Prayer Group), we have a Small Group Bible
Study in Room #110.  We began many months ago working our way through the Bible, one book at a time.
Being a small group affords us the opportunity to move as quickly or slowly as needed.
We take the time to answer any questions so everyone leaves with a clear understanding of the Word of God.
Scrapbooking & Craft Night
Scrapbooking/Craft night is for all you ladies who love being creative.  Bring that scrapbook or
craft project you are working on and join us for loads of fun and fellowship.  We meet on the second
Friday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Gym.  If you don't scrapbook but would like to learn how,
we would be glad to help you get started. So come on out and bring a snack.  We eat, work,
visit and have a great time!
